SoFi Stock Forecast: Q3 2026 Beat and the 2027 Outlook

SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ: SOFI) reported a strong third quarter on 27 October 2026. Adjusted net revenue rose 44% to $1.371 billion. The company also lifted its 2026 guidance. It gave a first 2027 outlook of about $0.90 in earnings per share, according to the Q3 2026 earnings release filed with the SEC. The shares rose 13.42% to $16.40 that day.

The rebound came from a low base. The shares are still about 37% lower this year and roughly half their 52-week high of $32.73. Analysts remain split, with recent price targets from $15 to $26. The Fed decision on 28 October at 18:00 UK time is a further test for this rate-sensitive stock. It had not been announced when this article was written.

Why Is SoFi Stock Going Up?

The short answer is a clean beat plus a higher outlook. Investors had feared that rising rates would hurt the company. The report eased some of those fears.

Results Beat the Main Estimates

SoFi reported its results before the US open on 27 October. Revenue of $1.37 billion beat the average estimate of about $1.25 billion. Earnings per share of $0.18 topped the $0.17 consensus, as TipRanks reported.

Measure Actual Consensus estimate
Adjusted net revenue $1.37bn $1.25bn to $1.26bn
Diluted EPS $0.18 $0.17
Adjusted EBITDA $469.8m $442.8m

Trading Volume Was Unusually Heavy

About 160 million shares changed hands on 27 October. That is roughly three times the three-month average of 51.4 million shares cited by the Motley Fool. The wider market was calmer. The S&P 500 rose 0.60% to 7,722.60 on the same day.

The Stock Started From a Deep Low

The move followed a hard autumn. On 14 October, the day of a hot September CPI report, the shares fell 6.69% to $14.22. The next day they touched a 52-week low of $13.86, as TIKR noted.

SoFi Q3 2026 Results in Numbers

SoFi added a record 1.2 million members in the quarter. It also added a record 2.2 million products. Deposits climbed by $5.8 billion to $51.3 billion, according to the Q3 release.

Chief executive Anthony Noto summed it up in the release. "We are adding more members, who are using more products, and generating more revenue per product," he said in the Q3 2026 results release.

Lending Growth and the SoFi Loan Platform Business

Personal loan originations reached $12.6 billion. That figure includes $3.6 billion originated for third parties. Student loans rose 96% to $2.9 billion. Home loans rose 44% to $1.4 billion.

The Loan Platform Business originated about $3.8 billion of loans for partners. It brought in $153.4 million of adjusted net revenue. Fee-based revenue reached $570.6 million, about 42% of the total, based on the Q3 figures.

The Technology Platform segment is the weak spot. It lost a large client before the end of 2025. Excluding that client, the segment grew 18%, the release says.

SoFi Raised Guidance for 2026 and a First Look at 2027

The guidance changed the tone of the report. Management now targets about $5.04 billion of adjusted net revenue in 2026. The earlier range was $4.75 billion to $4.85 billion, according to the Q3 2026 release.

Item FY2026 guide in Q2 release New FY2026 guide 2027 outlook 2027 consensus before the release
Adjusted net revenue $4.75bn to $4.85bn about $5.04bn about $6.4bn $6.14bn
Adjusted EBITDA about $1.60bn about $1.66bn about $2.24bn $2.12bn
Net income about $825m about $840m about $1.28bn n/a

Source: SoFi Q3 2026 earnings release (SEC); earlier figures from the SoFi Q2 2026 earnings release (SEC); the Q3 release says SoFi continues to expect net income of about $840m and EPS of about $0.61; consensus from Seeking Alpha via TradingView. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.

What the SoFi 2027 Guidance Assumes

The 2027 outlook implies about 27% revenue growth. It also implies EPS growth of about 48%. Chief financial officer Chris Lapointe said the plan assumes two Fed hikes in 2027 and a 24% tax rate, as MarketBeat's call summary reports.

Lapointe also addressed dilution fears on the call. "For clarity, our 2027 guidance does not require raising additional capital," he said, according to the Investing.com transcript.

The Rate Assumption Changed Mid-Year

Noto was open about the shift. "Our original 2026 guidance assumed two rate cuts. Instead, we have already had one rate hike," he said on the call, per the Investing.com transcript.

The Target of 100 Million Products by 2030

The company repeated its long-term aim of 100 million products by the end of 2030. It also wants five businesses with more than $1 billion of revenue each. Both goals appear in the Q3 release. These are management targets. They may not be met.

Credit Quality and Capital

For a consumer lender, credit quality matters as much as growth. Capital matters too. The Q3 numbers were mixed here.

Measure 30 Sep 2026 A year earlier
Personal loan net charge-off rate 2.26% 2.60%
Student loan net charge-off rate 0.63% 0.69%
CET1 capital ratio 16.9% 20.0%
Cash and equivalents $2.81bn $4.93bn (31 Dec 2025)
Debt $3.9bn $1.8bn (31 Dec 2025)
Cumulative fair-value premium on loans about $1.40bn $2.03bn (30 Jun 2026)

Source: SoFi Q3 2026 earnings release (SEC). Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Two Ways to Measure Charge-Offs

The reported personal loan charge-off rate fell to 2.26%. Lapointe also gave an "all-in" rate of about 3.4% that includes sales of late-stage delinquent loans, per the Investing.com transcript. Both figures come from SoFi, and they measure different things.

Fair-Value Marks and Hedges

SoFi carries most of its loans at fair value. Higher discount rates therefore cut their book value. "We had over $800 million of fair value losses, which were largely offset by about $734 million of hedge gains," Lapointe said, per the transcript.

The total capital ratio stood at 17%, against a regulatory minimum of 10.5%, according to the same call transcript. The cushion has shrunk from a year ago. Bears watch it closely.

The Motley Fool noted that the stock trades at less than 18 times the 2027 forecast. That multiple only holds if the outlook is delivered. For a refresher on these ratios, see the Admirals guides to the price-to-earnings ratio and earnings per share.

Does SoFi Pay a Dividend?

SoFi does not pay a dividend at present, based on StockAnalysis data. Returns for shareholders depend only on the share price. The company retains earnings to fund growth.

SoFi Stock Price History: Five Years of Swings

SoFi Stock Consensus Rating

Consensus depends on the data provider. MarketBeat lists a "Hold" rating with an average target near $21.95, per its 27 October report. StockAnalysis shows a lower average near $20.22.

The Bull Case From Analysts

  • Bulls can point to 35% member growth and a 2027 EPS outlook above the consensus, based on the Q3 release.
  • Fee-based revenue reached 42% of the total, helped by the Loan Platform Business, per the same release.
  • Scotiabank raised its target to $26 after the report, according to Rallies.

The Bear Case From Analysts

  • Goldman Sachs warned that higher rates could hurt gain-on-sale margins, per TipRanks.
  • KBW flagged the risk of large fair-value losses before hedges, as TIKR reported.
  • Truist pointed to rising competition from big banks in personal loans, according to American Banker.
A strong quarter does not settle the rate question. SoFi's own 2027 plan assumes two more Fed hikes, so a faster tightening cycle could test its loan marks.

SoFi Stock and Interest Rates

Interest rates are a key driver for this stock. SoFi holds loans at fair value. It also funds itself with deposits. Both are sensitive to the Fed.

Why Higher Rates Matter

  • Higher discount rates lower the fair value of loans on the balance sheet.
  • Deposit costs tend to rise when the Fed tightens.
  • Loan buyers may pay lower prices, which can squeeze gain-on-sale income.

The Fed raised rates by 25 basis points to 3.75% to 4.00% on 16 September 2026. You can read more in the Admirals report on how the Fed raised interest rates.

The Fed Decision on 28 October

The next Fed decision is due on 28 October at 14:00 ET, or 18:00 UK time. It had not been published when this article was written, so readers may wish to check the outcome. Danske Bank expects a hold now and further hikes later, according to an FXStreet preview. The Admirals Fed rate decision October 2026 preview covers the scenarios.

What Management Says About Rates

Lapointe argued on the call that "our business model is resilient to rate volatility," per American Banker. Markets may judge that claim by the next few CPI prints.

Crypto and Stablecoin Projects

SoFi has added several crypto products in the past year. Their contribution to revenue is still small.

Product Status Key fact
SoFiUSD stablecoin Live since Dec 2025 Card programme settlement moved to SoFiUSD on 22 Sep 2026
SoFi Earn (SOFIE) Launched 22 Oct 2026 Tokenised deposit paying 4.40% APY (variable), FDIC-insured up to limits

Source: The Block; CoinMarketCap; SoFi Q3 2026 release. The APY is a deposit rate before taxes and costs, which may vary.

The card programme is expected to exceed $25 billion of annualised volume, The Block reported. Even so, crypto revenue remains tiny next to lending.

SoFi S&P 500 Inclusion: Is It Close?

SoFi is not in the S&P 500. It was not among the September 2026 additions, according to the S&P Dow Jones Indices announcement.

In June, the Motley Fool cited a market-value threshold of about $22.7 billion. At today's share count that is roughly $17.50 per share, by our calculation. The threshold may have changed since June. Index committees also use discretion.

SoFi Stock Risks to Watch

Rate Risk

The 2027 plan already assumes higher rates. A faster cycle could hit loan marks. It could also raise deposit costs.

Credit Risk

Personal loans made up about three quarters of Q3 originations, based on the Q3 release. A weaker job market would likely show up in charge-offs first.

Dilution and Funding

SoFi raised $1.5 billion by selling shares at $27.50 in December 2025, per the pricing release filed with the SEC. Management says the 2027 plan does not require new capital. Investors may still weigh the risk of future share sales.

Insider Selling

Two executives sold shares under pre-arranged 10b5-1 plans in September and October. MarketBeat counts 50,316 shares sold by insiders over 90 days, per its 27 October report.

How Traders Often Approach SoFi Stock After Earnings

Traders tend to look at a few factors after a large earnings gap. These are general observations. They are not recommendations.

  • Many traders watch whether the price holds above the gap-day low of $15.67.
  • Some wait for a close above the 200-day average before reading a trend change.
  • Others focus on CPI and Fed days, because the stock has often reacted sharply to them.
  • Position size and stop-loss orders are common tools to manage risk around earnings, although a stop may be filled at a worse price when the market gaps.
