Roblox Stock 2026: Price, Earnings and Analyst Views on RBLX

Roblox is an online platform where users play and create games. This article looks at the RBLX share price, the latest quarterly results, analyst views and the main risks for the shares.

Roblox stock (NYSE: RBLX) traded near $50 on 21 September 2026. That put the Roblox market cap at about $35.7 billion, based on Robinhood data.

The shares are still far below their record. The all-time closing high was $141.56 on 29 September 2025, according to MacroTrends.

The shares rose about 27% in the month to 19 September 2026. They were still down about 37% for the year as of mid-September. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

The main reason for the slide is slower spending on the platform. In Q2 2026, bookings grew just 8% to $1.56 billion. For Q3, the company guided bookings 14% to 18% lower year on year.

Engagement is still huge. Daily active users averaged 123 million in Q2 2026, up 10% on a year earlier.

What Is Roblox?

Roblox is an online platform where people play and build 3D games made by other users. It was founded in 2004 by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel. The company is based in San Mateo, California. Players join Roblox games for free.

Creators build them in Roblox Studio, the free development tool. This model has a big advantage. Millions of creators develop new games, so Roblox does not carry the cost of making them. It does have to keep the platform safe and attractive for those creators. Money flows through Robux, the platform’s virtual currency. Players buy Robux and spend them in games or on avatar items.

How Roblox Makes Money

Revenue source How it works
Robux purchases Players buy virtual currency in the app or on the web.
Roblox gift card sales Prepaid cards sold in shops are redeemed for Robux or credit.
Roblox Premium A monthly subscription that pays a regular Robux stipend.
Advertising and partnerships Brands pay for ads and branded experiences on the platform.

The Roblox Premium price depends on the tier and the country. Roblox’s own site is the best place to check it. Creators get a share of what players spend. From 8 June 2026, US creators of games for age-verified users aged 18 and over earn 37.8% of in-game revenue, up from 26.6%, as reported by TheStreet.

Bookings vs Revenue: The Number That Moves the Stock

Revenue and bookings tell different stories at Roblox. Bookings show what players spent in the quarter.

Revenue spreads most of that spending over an estimated 27 months, per the Q2 2026 shareholder letter. So revenue can keep growing while bookings fall. Roblox expects exactly that in Q3 2026.

From Pandemic Boom to the NYSE

For most of its history Roblox had a fairly small user base. Growth picked up in the second half of the 2010s. Then the pandemic changed everything.

Lockdowns kept people at home in 2020. Many turned to games, and Roblox became a place to meet friends. Users even hosted virtual birthday parties there.

The numbers jumped. In the first nine months of 2020, Roblox had 31 million daily active users, up 82% on a year earlier. Third-quarter revenue rose 91% to $242.2 million.

Losses grew too. Roblox lost $203 million in the nine months to September 2020, on revenue of $589 million. Higher spending on infrastructure and research drove most of that loss.

Why Roblox Chose a Direct Listing

Roblox first planned a traditional IPO for December 2020. Airbnb and DoorDash then soared on their debuts, and Roblox reportedly worried about leaving money on the table. It postponed the IPO.

The company switched to a direct listing. In this route, existing shareholders and employees sell their shares straight to new investors on the exchange. Before listing, Roblox raised $520 million in January 2021. That round valued it at about $29.5 billion, roughly seven times its February 2020 valuation of $4 billion. Altimeter Capital and Dragoneer Investment Group led the round. Warner Music Group also took part.

Roblox joined the NYSE on 10 March 2021. The exchange set a reference price of $45, and the shares opened at $64.50.

The Roblox stock price fell hard after the Q2 report. Shares dropped about 14% in after-hours trading on 30 July 2026, to $41.94, according to Investing.com.

They climbed again after the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) on 11 September. On 14 September the stock rose about 10% in one session, to roughly $50, as reported by 24/7 Wall St. In the month to 19 September, the share price traded between a low of $37.20 and a high of $51.30, according to Investing.com. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Why Roblox Shares Fell in 2026

  • Roblox rolled out age checks for chat in January 2026, which slowed new sign-ups.
  • Russia banned the platform in December 2025 and lifted the ban in June 2026.
  • A new recommendation algorithm pushed players towards games that keep them longer and earn less per hour.
  • Some investors worried that AI tools could make it easier for rivals to build games.
  • Management cut its full-year bookings growth guidance to 8% to 12% in April, then stopped giving annual guidance in July.

How to Read the Roblox Stock Chart

The RBLX chart shows two very different phases over the last year. The first was a climb to the September 2025 peak, helped by viral hit games. The second was a long slide into the summer of 2026. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

What Management Said

The shareholder letter says the new algorithm ‘intentionally provides more impressions for highly retentive games at the expense of near term monetization’. Source: Roblox Q2 2026 shareholder letter.

CFO Naveen Chopra said internal tests suggest better retention should eventually offset the bookings hit. He did not give a timeline, according to Yahoo Finance. Roblox now gives quarterly guidance only. The company said annual guidance was unhelpful for investors, given its long-term focus.

Roblox Analyst Views: Published Ratings and Price Targets

Analysts updated their views after RDC 2026. Their ratings and price targets differ widely.

Firm Rating RBLX price target Previous target
Wells Fargo Overweight $64 $46
Roth Capital Buy $60 $55
Oppenheimer Outperform $50 $82
BofA Securities Neutral $48 $44
Wedbush Neutral $48 $40

Sources: Yahoo Finance and Parameter. Wedbush and Roth updates were reported by 24/7 Wall St. and CNN Markets in September 2026. Price targets are third-party opinions. They change often and are not a reliable indicator of future performance.

Wells Fargo said it believes the business has bottomed and a positive turn is under way. BTIG, which rates the stock Sell, warned that new distribution and ad changes could strain developer relationships over time.

Arguments on Each Side

Supportive factors Negative factors
Roblox Everywhere could bring games to app stores and web browsers. Q3 bookings are guided 14% to 18% lower year on year.
Daily creator payouts through Roblox Wallet may attract more developers. Average bookings per DAU fell 2% in Q2 2026.
Daily active users aged 18 and over grew 32% in Q2. Regulatory pressure over child safety is rising.
Roblox held $6.1bn in cash and investments at the end of June. GAAP losses continue, with a Q3 net loss guided at $307m to $348m.

Roblox Stock News: Catalysts to Watch

Catalyst Why it matters Where to track it
Q3 2026 results First quarter with bookings guided lower Roblox investor relations
Roblox Everywhere roll-out Could widen reach beyond the app Roblox news releases
EU Digital Services Act status Stricter duties for very large platforms European Commission
US Senate inquiry and state lawsuits Legal costs or product limits are possible Court and SEC filings
GTA 6 release A major rival for players’ time, per BofA Industry news
US interest rates Rate moves can shift how growth stocks are valued Federal Reserve statements

The regulatory load is growing. A US Senate inquiry opened in August 2026, and around ten states are involved in lawsuits or settlements. The European Commission has also placed the platform under its strictest Digital Services Act rules, as reported by 24/7 Wall St.

At RDC 2026, Roblox showed Roblox Everywhere and Roblox Offline. It also expanded its Build tool, which creates games from text prompts, into public alpha in Singapore and Serbia.

Macro matters too. The Fed raised rates to 3.75% to 4.00% on 16 September 2026, as covered in our article on the Fed decision. Rate changes can affect how the market values loss-making growth companies. The effect varies over time.

Roblox Valuation and Market Cap

At about $35.7 billion, the market value equals roughly 7.3 times 2025 revenue of $4.89 billion. That figure is our own calculation ($35.7bn market value ÷ $4.89bn 2025 revenue ≈ 7.3).

A price-to-earnings ratio is of little use here, because Roblox is loss-making. Many analysts value it on enterprise value to EBITDA. BofA, for example, uses 20 times its 2027 EV/EBITDA estimate.

Valuation measure Value Note
Market capitalisation About $35.7bn Robinhood, 21 Sep 2026
Price to 2025 revenue About 7.3x Our calculation
Price-to-earnings ratio Negative The company made net losses
Cash and investments $6.1bn As at 30 June 2026

Does Roblox Pay a Dividend?

Roblox does not pay a dividend. The company has never declared or paid a cash dividend, according to its annual report.

Roblox reinvests its cash in infrastructure and AI tools. Any return for shareholders therefore depends on the share price alone.

How the Market Has Reacted Around Roblox Earnings

Roblox shares have made large moves after recent results. After the Q2 2026 report they fell about 14% in after-hours trading. After the Q1 2026 report the after-hours move was much smaller, at about 2%. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Some market participants review a few points around each report.

  • They compare reported bookings with the company’s own guidance range.
  • They look at daily active users and hours engaged for signs of a trend.
  • They read the shareholder letter for any change to guidance.
  • They check how the share price moved after past reports.

This is general information about how markets tend to work. It is not a suggestion to trade around earnings.

Prices can gap past a stop-loss level after results. Stop-loss orders are not guaranteed, so a loss can be larger than planned. Our risk management guide explains the main tools.
