ONDO Price Analysis: The Ondo Finance Token Tests $0.40 as the Fed Decides

The ONDO price stood at $0.4194 at 11:23 UTC (07:23 ET) on 28 October 2026, according to CoinGecko. That is about 30% below the 28 September peak of $0.6035. It is also about 80% below the all-time high of $2.14 set in December 2024.

The token sits just above a support zone at $0.37 to $0.40. Commentators point to three issues. ONDO is a governance token that does not share in the revenue of Ondo's products. A large unlock is scheduled for 18 January 2027. A court dispute over control of the company is also still open. The Federal Reserve decides on rates today at 18:00 UK time.

In short, ONDO is trading in the low $0.40s. The ONDO market cap of about $2 billion is roughly half of its fully diluted value. That gap shows how much supply is not yet circulating.

Why Is ONDO Down From Its September Peak?

ONDO rose from about $0.20 in February 2026 to $0.6035 on 28 September. The February low followed a fall of about 73% in 2025, as the 5-year table below shows. Since then, it has lost about 30%. Three factors appear to have driven the fall.

The Token Does Not Share in Product Revenue

Ondo's products have grown quickly in 2026. The token has not followed. A CoinMarketCap analysis on 18 October said ONDO gives holders governance rights only. It carries a claim on neither USDY reserves nor its fees, according to CoinMarketCap.

That point matters for valuation. When assets under management rise, the company may benefit. Token holders do not receive that income directly.

Volume Has Faded Since the Peak

Daily volume reached $641.7 million on 28 September, according to CoinCodex. It has since dropped to around $80 million to $100 million a day. The 30-day average was about $218 million, so current activity is well under half of that norm.

Falling volume during a decline often signals fewer active buyers. It can also mean sellers are running out of steam. The next move in volume may help clarify which reading fits.

ONDO Has Moved More Than Bitcoin

ONDO tends to swing harder than the wider market. In the week to 17 October, ONDO fell about 9%. Bitcoin lost 1.7% and Ether lost 3.4% over the same week, according to 24/7 Wall St. via Yahoo Finance.

On 18 October, ONDO dropped 6.5% in 24 hours while the total crypto market lost 1.5%. CoinMarketCap linked part of this to trading concentrated on Korean exchanges (CoinMarketCap).

Date (2026) Daily close What happened
28 Sep $0.5145 Intraday peak of $0.6035 on volume of $641.7m
11 Oct $0.5200 Last close above $0.50
12 Oct $0.4693 Fell 9.8% in one day on $302m volume
18 Oct $0.4346 Sell-off linked to tokenomics concerns
21 Oct $0.4592 Short bounce, high of $0.4702
24 Oct $0.4114 New low close for the move

What Is Ondo Finance?

Ondo Finance is a company that brings traditional financial products onto public blockchains. Nathan Allman, formerly of Goldman Sachs, founded it in 2021, according to The Block.

ONDO is the governance token of the Ondo ecosystem. Holders can take part in governance decisions. The token itself does not give a claim on product reserves or fees (CoinMarketCap).

Ondo's Business: Tokenised Treasuries and Stocks

The business side of Ondo has expanded strongly this year. This section sets out the main figures.

USDY vs BUIDL: How Ondo Passed BlackRock's Fund

In October, Ondo's USDY passed the BlackRock BUIDL fund in size. On 18 October, USDY held about $2.33 billion against about $2.2 billion for BUIDL, according to 24/7 Wall St. via Yahoo Finance. The report put USDY's lead at about $130 million to $160 million, depending on the measure. Rankings change quickly, and on 28 October RWA.xyz listed a single Circle product at about $2.4 billion.

At platform level, Ondo also leads. The tokenised Treasury market had a distributed value of $14.59 billion on 28 October, according to RWA.xyz. Ondo's 11 products held about $3.1 billion, around 21% of that total.

Rank Platform Products Total value
1 Ondo 11 $3.1bn
2 Franklin Templeton Benji 4 $2.7bn
3 Circle 1 $2.4bn
4 Securitize 4 $2.3bn
5 Kinexys Digital Assets 2 $892.4m
6 WisdomTree 7 $768.4m

Source: RWA.xyz, tokenised US Treasury funds league table, as of 28 October 2026, values change daily.

RWA.xyz also showed a seven-day APY of 3.74% for the tokenised Treasury market. That figure is before taxes and costs, which may vary. Higher T-bill yields can make these products more attractive to holders of stablecoins.

Ondo Global Markets and Tokenised Stocks

Ondo Global Markets launched in September 2025. It passed $1 billion in total value locked in under eight months, according to TheStreet via Yahoo Finance. By May 2026, the platform listed more than 260 tickers and had handled $18 billion in cumulative volume.

Katie Wheeler is Managing Director of Global Partnerships at Ondo. In a May interview with TheStreet, she said she would be unsurprised if this business passed $5 billion by the end of 2026 (TheStreet via Yahoo Finance). That is a company view. It is not an independent forecast.

On 6 October, Ondo reported $3.7 billion in total value locked across stocks and Treasuries. It also cited more than 1 million cumulative holders in a press release (PR Newswire).

What the 18 January 2027 Unlock Could Mean

The ONDO unlock on 18 January 2027 is the largest known supply event on the horizon. Tokenomist lists it as pending verification. Its estimated size equals about 36% of the tokens released so far.

Large unlocks can weigh on token prices, because they add supply. Some traders sell ahead of such events. The real effect depends on whether new holders sell.

Leadership and the Ondo Finance Lawsuit

Ondo has faced a leadership dispute following the death of its founder in May 2026. This section summarises the public record only.

Who Is the CEO of Ondo Finance?

Ian De Bode became chief executive after Nathan Allman's death was announced on 25 May 2026, according to The Block. Recent company releases sign him as Acting CEO and President (PR Newswire).

Timeline of the Dispute

Kathleen Allman is the founder's mother and represents his estate. On 24 July 2026 she filed a complaint in the Delaware Court of Chancery. She seeks control of the company and the removal of De Bode. De Bode called the claims meritless, according to The Block.

Markets tend to dislike uncertainty over who controls a company. A ruling in either direction may move the token.

Macro Backdrop: The Fed Decision on 28 October 2026

ONDO trades as a risk asset. Rates and the US dollar therefore matter.

Why Interest Rates Matter for ONDO

The Fed raised rates by 25 basis points to 3.75% to 4.00% on 16 September 2026. It was the first hike since July 2023, as covered in our analysis of the September Fed hike. Higher yields can support demand for tokenised Treasuries. They also tend to weigh on speculative tokens such as ONDO.

Bond traders priced less than a 10% chance of a hike today, according to Yahoo Finance, citing CME Group. A December hike looks more likely on that pricing. Our Fed rate decision preview explains the possible outcomes.

Regulation: The CLARITY Act and the Proposed ONDO ETF

US crypto rules remain unsettled. The CLARITY Act failed a Senate cloture vote by 49 to 50 on 15 September 2026, according to Orrick. The law firm said passage in this Congress is widely viewed as unlikely.

Earlier, Galaxy Research had already cut the bill's 2026 odds to 50% (Decrypt). The SEC's proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, published on 18 August 2026, is now the main regulatory track.

The 21Shares Ondo ETF filing names Coinbase Custody and BitGo as custodians (SEC EDGAR). Its current status could not be confirmed at the time of writing.

Ondo's products have grown fast in 2026, yet the ONDO token does not share in their revenue. Commentators see that gap as a key factor in the price action.

The $0.37 to $0.40 Support Zone

Coinpedia places support at $0.37 to $0.40, near the 200-day exponential moving average (Cryptonews.net). Analyst Giannis Andreou marks $0.3806 as the 0.618 Fibonacci level on the weekly chart (EdaFace).

The EdaFace article adds that a weekly close below $0.38 could open the way to $0.34. Below that, it points to $0.27 to $0.28.

Resistance at $0.4233 and the Descending Trendline

On the upside, Andreou marks $0.4233 as the first resistance. That level lines up with a falling trendline from the September peak. Above it, the 21 October high near $0.47 and the $0.50 level are the next resistance points in the price data.

Traders often wait for a close above resistance before treating a break as valid. Volume can help confirm the move.

Source: EdaFace, Cryptonews.net, TheStreet via Yahoo Finance. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.

The scenarios below are illustrative only. They show how the price could react to different triggers.

Bullish Scenario

A daily close above $0.4233 could open a path towards $0.47 and then $0.50 to $0.53. A calm Fed outcome and steady Bitcoin could support this case. Product news, such as the OpenAI note launch, could add interest.

Base Scenario

ONDO could stay in a range of $0.38 to $0.47 while markets wait for the Fed and the midterm elections. Volume may stay low in that case.

Bearish Scenario

A weekly close below $0.38 could expose $0.34 and then $0.27 to $0.28. A hawkish Fed signal or a weaker Bitcoin could drive this. An adverse court ruling or selling ahead of the January unlock could also weigh.

Scenario Possible trigger Illustrative path
Bullish Close above $0.4233, calm Fed, steady Bitcoin $0.47, then $0.50 to $0.53, then $0.60
Base Range trading into the midterms $0.38 to $0.47
Bearish Weekly close below $0.38, hawkish Fed, unlock selling $0.34, then $0.27 to $0.28, then $0.20 to $0.24

How Traders Often Approach ONDO

This section describes common practice. It is not a recommendation to trade.

Spot Tokens and Crypto CFDs Compared

ONDO is listed on many crypto exchanges, according to CoinGecko. Some traders prefer derivatives such as CFDs. CFDs let traders speculate on price moves in both directions without owning the token.

Crypto CFDs are not available to retail clients in the UK. Elsewhere, access depends on the client's country and client category. This comparison describes crypto CFDs in general, and Admirals' product pages did not list ONDO at the time of writing.

Feature Buying the token on an exchange Trading a crypto CFD
Ownership You hold the token You hold a contract on the price
Direction Gains only if the price rises Long or short positions are possible
Leverage Usually none on spot Leverage can magnify gains and losses
Custody Wallet and private key management Not applicable, as the client holds a contract
Costs Exchange fees and spreads Spreads, overnight financing and other fees

General comparison. Product features vary by provider and jurisdiction. Crypto CFDs are not available to retail clients in the UK.

Our guide to CFD trading explains how these contracts work.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Risk Management Habits Traders Often Use

  • Many traders size positions so that one loss stays small relative to the account.
  • Some traders place stop-loss orders beyond nearby support or resistance levels.
  • A stop-loss order may be filled at a worse price than set, because prices can gap.
  • Some traders reduce position size ahead of the Fed decision.
  • Traders often check the unlock calendar before holding a token for several months.
  • Some practise first on a demo account, which uses virtual funds.

Demo results may differ from live trading. Platforms such as MetaTrader 5 offer charting tools for tracking support and resistance. Our article on risk management covers ways to manage risk in more depth.

The Bottom Line on ONDO

ONDO trades near $0.42, close to support at $0.37 to $0.40. The business behind it has grown fast, with USDY passing BlackRock's BUIDL in October. The token has not shared in that growth so far.

Three factors may shape the next move. The Fed decision comes today. Possible selling ahead of the January unlock is a second factor. The Delaware court case is the third. A close above $0.4233 or below $0.38 could set the direction for the coming weeks.
