Samsung Stock Forecast 2026: Analyst Targets and Key Risks Before Q3 Earnings
Samsung Electronics stock closed at KRW 276,000 on 1 October 2026. The common shares trade in Seoul under the ticker 005930. They rose 2.79% that day after record Korean chip exports and strong results from US peer Micron, according to Seoul Economic Daily. The price remains about 26% below the record high of KRW 374,500 set on 19 June 2026.
The next big test is the Samsung Q3 2026 preliminary earnings release. Aju Press expected it in the week starting 5 October. Broker estimates cluster around KRW 104 trillion to KRW 111 trillion of operating profit, which would be a first above KRW 100 trillion for the company. Domestic brokers tracked by FnGuide had an average 12-month target of KRW 493,864 in late September. These are third-party estimates. They can change quickly, and forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.

Why Is Samsung Stock Up Today? Micron and a Korea Chip Exports Record
Two reports lifted chip stocks on 1 October.
First, Micron reported record fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $54.23 billion, according to its results release. It also projected that memory supply and demand would be tighter in 2027 and 2028 than this year, Seoul Economic Daily reported.
Second, Korean semiconductor exports jumped 262.8% from a year earlier to $60.3 billion in September. It was the first month above $60 billion, based on trade ministry data.
Both Samsung and SK hynix opened lower before turning higher. Rising long-term US Treasury yields weighed on the open.

Why Samsung Stock Fell Despite Record Profit
July showed a pattern that still shapes the stock. Samsung beat forecasts, and the shares fell anyway.
On 6 July, Morgan Stanley told clients it preferred cutting semiconductor exposure in the short term. Foreign investors then sold about KRW 1.82 trillion of Samsung common shares on 7 July, Bloomingbit reported. Talk of a memory cycle peak in 2027 or 2028 has shaped the debate since.
Markets can be a tough crowd. A record quarter earned Samsung a standing ovation in May and a polite cough in July.
Samsung Stock History: Five-Year Performance
The table below shows calendar-year changes in the common share price over the past five full years, plus 2026 to date. It helps put this year's moves into context.

The record shows sharp swings in both directions. The stock fell by about a third in 2022 and again in 2024. It then more than doubled in 2025.
Samsung Q3 2026 Earnings: Date and Consensus
Samsung Q3 2026 Earnings Date
Samsung published its Q2 guidance on 7 July, according to the company. On 29 September, Aju Press expected the Q3 preliminary figures the following week. The company has not confirmed a date.
The preliminary release contains only two numbers, revenue and operating profit. Division details follow with the full report. Samsung published full Q2 results on 30 July, and its board will finalise Q3 dividend details at its October meeting, the company said.

| FnGuide one-month consensus | About KRW 106 trillion | Aju Press, 29 Sep |
| FnGuide wider consensus | KRW 111.4 trillion | Aju Press, 29 Sep |

| KB Securities | KRW 112 trillion | Edaily, 13 Aug |
Third-party estimates as reported by Korean media. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
Several estimates have come down. Citi linked about KRW 5 trillion of its cut to the stronger won, Seoul Economic Daily reported. It linked a similar amount to extra performance bonuses.
Even so, most published forecasts point to a Samsung record quarterly profit. This Samsung Q3 earnings preview also needs context from the second quarter.
Samsung Q2 2026 Earnings in Context
| Quarter | Revenue (KRW trillion) | Operating profit (KRW trillion) |
|---|---|---|
| Q2 2025 | 74.57 | 4.68 |
| Q1 2026 | 133.87 | 57.23 |
| Q2 2026 | 171.5 | 89.5 |

Operating profit rose about 19 times in a year. Earnings per share reached KRW 10,849 in Q2, Samsung said.
Samsung by Division: Chips Earn Almost Everything
| Division (Q2 2026) | Revenue (KRW trillion) | Operating profit (KRW trillion) |
|---|---|---|
| DS (semiconductors) | 127.5 | 89.2 |
| SDC (displays) | 7.5 | 0.7 |
| MX and Networks (phones) | 33.2 | -0.7 |
| VD and DA (TVs and appliances) | 14.5 | Slight loss |
Source: Samsung Electronics Q2 2026 results, published on 30 July 2026.
Chips produced almost all of the profit. The Samsung MX division loss of KRW 0.7 trillion came from higher component costs, the company said.
This is the Samsung chipflation effect. Expensive memory lifts the chip unit. The same memory squeezes margins on phones and TVs.
Citi expects the pattern to continue in Q3. It forecasts losses of KRW 1.7 trillion in mobile and KRW 0.6 trillion in home appliances, Seoul Economic Daily reported.
What Could Shape the Market Reaction
Reactions to Samsung results have varied widely this year. The shares jumped more than 15% after Q1 results. They fell 6.92% after Q2 guidance, even though profit hit a record.
| Outcome versus consensus | What markets may focus on |
|---|---|
| Well above consensus | Whether price gains and HBM4 sales can continue into 2027 |
| In line with consensus | Comments on 2027 contracts during the full results call |
| Below consensus | The size of bonus provisions and the effect of the stronger won |

Memory Supercycle 2026: Are Chip Prices Still Rising?
Memory chips store data in devices and in data-centre servers. Two types matter most for Samsung.
DRAM handles short-term working memory. NAND flash stores data for the long term. High-bandwidth memory (HBM) stacks DRAM chips for AI processors.
| Quarter | Conventional DRAM (QoQ) | NAND flash (QoQ) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1Q26 | +90% to +95% | n/a | TrendForce figures cited by TradingKey |
| 3Q26 | +13% to +18% | +10% to +15% | TrendForce forecast cited by Aju Press |
| 4Q26 | Still rising | +15% to +20% | TrendForce 4Q26 forecast, 24 Sep 2026 |
Quarter-on-quarter changes in contract prices. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
Prices are still rising. The pace of increases has slowed sharply since the first quarter.
The latest TrendForce DRAM forecast expects DRAM contract prices to keep rising in the fourth quarter, led by AI servers. Weak consumer demand limits gains in phones and PCs.
Enterprise SSD prices stand out. TrendForce expects them to rise 23% to 28% in Q4 as cloud providers add storage for AI.
Samsung HBM Market Share
HBM is the memory that sits next to AI chips such as Nvidia GPUs. Samsung gained ground quickly in 2026.
| Supplier | HBM revenue share Q2 2026 | HBM revenue share Q1 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| SK hynix | 50% | 58% |
| Samsung | 33% | 21% |
| Micron | 18% | 21% |
Source: Counterpoint Research, September 2026.
Counterpoint also puts Samsung first in the overall DRAM market, with a 38% share in Q2. In the Samsung vs SK hynix HBM race, SK hynix still leads at Nvidia. Analysts put SK hynix at roughly two-thirds of Nvidia's HBM4 allocation, Tom's Hardware reported.
Samsung HBM4 and HBM Prices in 2027
Samsung said it scaled up HBM4 sales in Q2 and shipped the industry's first HBM4E samples to major customers, according to its Q2 results. It expects HBM4 revenue to more than triple in Q3, Aju Press reported.
Pricing for 2027 HBM supply is still being negotiated. Analysts cited by TrendForce expect HBM contract prices to rise more than 50% in 2027. UBS projects a rise of about 79% in average selling prices.
Price projections are third-party estimates. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
Why Long-Term Contracts Matter
Long-term agreements (LTAs) now cover a large part of industry output. KB Securities said more than 60% of total memory production volume has already been secured for delivery, Edaily reported.
These deals make revenue easier to predict. They can also stop suppliers from fully capturing sudden price jumps, Aju Press noted.
Micron Fiscal Q4 2026 Results: What They Signal
Micron results often serve as a read-across for Samsung. Its fiscal fourth quarter ended on 3 September 2026.
| Measure | Micron figure |
|---|---|
| Revenue, fiscal Q4 2026 | $54.23 billion |
| Revenue, fiscal Q3 2026 | $41.46 billion |
| Revenue, fiscal Q4 2025 | $11.32 billion |
| Non-GAAP gross margin, fiscal Q4 2026 | 87.0% |
| Revenue guidance, fiscal Q1 2027 | $61.5 billion, plus or minus $1.5 billion |

Micron and Samsung shares often move together after these reports. Still, a strong quarter at one company does not guarantee the same at another.
The chart below shows Micron Technology shares on Nasdaq. It is shown for illustration only and may not be available on our platforms.
Samsung Foundry: 2nm Chips and the Samsung Tesla Deal
Foundry means making chips designed by other companies. TSMC dominates this market. Samsung's foundry held about 7% of the market in Q4 2025, Tom's Hardware reported, citing TrendForce.
Samsung said foundry earnings improved significantly in Q2 before incentive-related provisions, according to its results release. It is targeting double-digit revenue growth in the second half.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Tesla contract | About $16.5 billion, signed in July 2025 and running through 2033, according to Tom's Hardware |
| Plant | Taylor, Texas, with a capacity goal of around 50,000 wafer starts a month |
| Timeline | Trial production targeted by the end of 2026, with mass production in 2027 |
| Tesla volume | Samsung expects volume production of Tesla AI chips at Taylor in the second half of 2027, Electrek reported |
| Reported 2nm yield | Near 55% in April, with market assumptions above 60% by July |
Yield figures are press estimates and are not Samsung disclosures.
The Samsung 2nm yield is the key number here. Higher yields mean more usable chips per wafer and lower costs.
Some analysts see a profitable foundry as a possible source of upside for the shares. Others point to execution risk. Tom's Hardware described yield as the biggest constraint on Samsung's 2nm business.
Is Samsung Stock Undervalued? Valuation and Forecasts
Valuation tells two different stories here.
| Measure | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| P/E on 2027 earnings at the 12 August close | 3.7x | KB Securities via Edaily |
| 2027 operating profit forecast (KB) | KRW 575 trillion | Edaily |
| 2027 operating profit forecast (Yuanta) | KRW 590.5 trillion | Seoul Economic Daily |
| 2027 operating profit forecast (BNK) | KRW 390 trillion | Seoul Economic Daily |
| 2028 operating profit forecast (BNK) | KRW 254 trillion | Seoul Economic Daily |
| Price to Yuanta 2027 book value per share (KRW 179,148) | About 1.5x | Author calculation at KRW 276,000 |
Valuation figures depend on forecasts that may change. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
On forward earnings the shares look inexpensive. Some brokers expect profits to fall after 2027, which would make today's multiples less meaningful. Both readings have supporters among analysts.
A very low P/E in a cyclical industry often means investors expect profits to fall later. KB put SK hynix at 3.2x 2027 earnings at the same date, so the low multiple is not unique to Samsung.
Samsung Analyst Price Target Overview
Brokers remain far apart. FnGuide put the Samsung stock consensus target from domestic brokers at KRW 493,864, Seoul Economic Daily reported. Investing.com showed KRW 478,628 from 36 analysts, with a range of KRW 290,000 to KRW 725,000.
| Broker | Date | Target (KRW) |
|---|---|---|
| BNK | 14 Sep | 270,000 (cut from 300,000), Seoul Economic Daily |

The Goldman Sachs Samsung target price of KRW 490,000 sits near the middle of the range. The highest figure in this table is the Nomura Samsung target price of KRW 670,000.
September also brought a Citi Samsung target price cut to KRW 430,000. The JPMorgan Samsung target price stood at KRW 400,000 on 21 September.
Average targets sit well above the current price. Targets can lag turning points in memory cycles. BNK, the most cautious broker in the table, expects operating profit to start falling next year.
Forecasts for 2027 operating profit range from KRW 390 trillion at BNK to about KRW 590 trillion at Yuanta. That gap explains much of the spread in any Samsung stock forecast 2027.
Samsung Dividend and Shareholder Returns
Samsung is returning far more cash than usual this year, the company said.
| Item | Detail | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 return pool | KRW 90 trillion to KRW 110 trillion | Approved by the board on 21 Aug |
| Samsung Q3 2026 dividend | About KRW 30 trillion in cash, including regular dividends | Details due at the October board meeting |
| Share buyback | About KRW 15 trillion | For employee compensation |
| Remaining return | Cash dividends and share buybacks or cancellations | Decision due at the January 2027 board meeting |
| Regular dividends paid in 2024 and 2025 | KRW 19.6 trillion in total | Paid |
| Extra returns in 2025 | KRW 1.3 trillion special dividend, plus KRW 8.4 trillion of buybacks with cancellation | Paid |
Source: Samsung Newsroom, 21 August 2026. Dividend amounts are final only once the board approves them.
The Samsung share buyback approved in August funds employee compensation. The Samsung board meeting January 2027 will decide how to use the rest of the pool, and Samsung said that plan will include dividends and buybacks or cancellations.
A simple calculation puts the Q3 payout at roughly KRW 4,500 per share. It divides KRW 30 trillion by about 6.7 billion shares, a count implied by Traders Union market value data. At KRW 276,000, that equals a Samsung dividend yield of about 1.6% for the quarter. The final figure may differ.
Samsung Preferred vs Common Stock
Preferred shares (005935) share in the same earnings per share as common shares, Samsung's Q2 release shows. They typically do not carry voting rights. They can also be less liquid.
Samsung Stock Technical Analysis
Technical analysis studies past prices and volumes. It shows where traders have been active before. It does not predict the future.
Moving averages, such as the 50-day and 200-day lines, smooth out daily noise. Readings of the Samsung stock 50 day moving average can differ by provider, so many traders compare more than one source.

Some chartists watch whether the price can hold above the late-July low and move past the September high. Breakouts around earnings can fail quickly, and many traders wait for confirmation.
Samsung Stock Risks and Possible Supports
Every investment case has two sides. The table puts the main factors next to each other.
| Possible supports | Possible headwinds |
|---|---|
| Samsung expects AI server demand to keep the memory market undersupplied, per its Q2 release | BNK expects operating profit to fall to KRW 254 trillion in 2028, per Seoul Economic Daily |
| HBM revenue share rose to 33% in Q2, per Counterpoint | Kiwoom expects CXMT and YMTC to pressure prices of general-purpose memory, per Seoul Economic Daily |
| The 2026 return pool totals KRW 90 trillion to KRW 110 trillion, per Samsung | Citi linked about KRW 5 trillion of its Q3 cut to extra performance bonuses, per Seoul Economic Daily |
| Foundry earnings improved in Q2 before provisions, per Samsung | 2nm yields were reported near 55% in April, per Tom's Hardware |
| KB put the 2027 P/E at 3.7x in August, per Edaily | The US 10-year yield hit 5.29%, the highest since 2007, per Seoul Economic Daily |
| More than 60% of memory volume is already secured for delivery, per KB via Edaily | Foreign investors sold KRW 21.5 trillion of KOSPI shares in September, per Seoul Economic Daily |
Balanced overview based on the sources in this article. The list is not exhaustive.
Key Risks in Brief
- Memory price growth has slowed sharply, and a peak would hit earnings.
- Chinese memory makers are adding capacity that could weigh on general-purpose memory prices.
- Any slowdown in AI spending would likely hit memory makers first.
- A stronger won reduces the won value of Samsung sales made in dollars.
- Higher US yields make emerging-market assets less attractive to global funds.
TradingKey noted that the July sell-off came as investors re-examined the payback on heavy AI investment, in its 28 July report.
Foreign Investors and the Won
Foreign investors selling Korean stocks has been a theme for five months. In September they sold a net KRW 21.5 trillion of KOSPI shares. Samsung and SK hynix made up 76.6% of that selling, Seoul Economic Daily reported.
Foreign ownership of Samsung fell into the 46% range in July, the lowest since 2009, Bloomingbit reported.
Some analysts read low foreign ownership as room for future inflows. Others note that outflows can last longer than expected.
The Korean won dollar exchange rate matters too. A stronger won cuts the value of dollar revenue in won terms, which is one reason Citi lowered its Q3 estimate.
US yields are part of the same story. Our report on how the Fed raised interest rates in September covers the policy side. Our preview of the Fed Williams speech on 29 September explains why Treasury yields hit their highest level since 2007.
The chart below shows the US dollar against the Korean won. It is shown for illustration only and may not be available on our platforms.
Samsung Stock Scenarios: Bull Case and Bear Case
The table sets out factors that could support a Samsung stock bull case or a Samsung stock bear case. It is illustrative. It does not assign probabilities or price targets.
| Factor | Supportive outcome | Unfavourable outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Q3 operating profit | Clearly above consensus | Clearly below consensus |
| 2027 HBM contracts | Signed at higher prices with a larger Samsung share | Delays or lower volumes |
| DRAM contract prices | Increases stay in double digits | Increases fall towards zero |
| US 10-year yield | Falls back below 5% | Rises further |
| January capital return | Includes cancellation of shares | Focuses on other uses |
| Foreign flows | Net buying returns | Selling continues |

What Traders and Investors Often Monitor
This section describes common approaches. It is not a recommendation to trade any instrument.
- Many market participants compare the preliminary operating profit with the KRW 104 trillion to KRW 111 trillion range of estimates.
- Some investors track TrendForce updates for signs that memory price growth is slowing further.
- Traders often watch the US 10-year Treasury yield, which hit 5.29% on 29 September.
- Daily foreign flow data from the Korea Exchange can show whether selling is easing.
- Comments on 2027 HBM contracts during the results call may shape analyst estimates.
Managing Risk Around Earnings
- Prices can gap past stop-loss levels when markets reopen after results.
- Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains.
- Investors outside Korea also face currency risk on assets priced in won.
- Position size relative to the whole account is one of the main tools traders use to manage risk.
Our guide to risk management explains how stop-loss orders and margin levels work. A demo account lets you practise with virtual funds. Demo results can differ from live trading.
Illustrative Example: One Earnings Release, Two Outcomes
The example uses a hypothetical CFD position worth €10,000 on a share with a 20% margin requirement (leverage of 1:5). The margin is €2,000.

How to Buy Samsung Stock or Get Exposure
Can I buy Samsung stock from outside Korea? Yes, through several routes. Each has its own costs and limits.
| Route | How it works | Points to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Korea Exchange | Buy 005930 or 005935 through a broker with Korean market access | Access varies by broker and country |
| London GDR (SMSN) | Receipts priced in US dollars that represent common shares | Large unit size and USD pricing |
| Frankfurt (SSU) | GDRs quoted in euros | Trading can be thin at times |
| US OTC (SSNLF) | Off-exchange trading in USD | Liquidity can be low |
| ETFs | Funds that hold Korean or memory stocks | Samsung is one holding among many |
| Share CFDs | Contracts that track a price without ownership | Leverage adds risk, and availability varies |
