Anthropic IPO 2026: The Expected Date and Valuation Explained
The Anthropic IPO has not happened yet. As of 25 September 2026, Anthropic PBC is still a private company. That means you cannot find a live Anthropic stock price on any exchange today.
Media reports point to a listing in November 2026. The Wall Street Journal reported the November plan on 18 September, and Anthropic has not confirmed a date. PYMNTS, summarising the report, noted that the timing could still change.
The reported target is a valuation of about $2 trillion, with up to $100 billion raised, according to The Motley Fool. If the deal went ahead on those terms, it would be the largest IPO on record. The terms are not final.
The information in this article is provided for educational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice. Consult a financial advisor before making investment decisions.
So, when will Anthropic go public? The final date will be set by Anthropic and its banks. The first clear signal will be a public S-1 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Until it lists, its shares cannot be bought on a stock exchange. We offer the opportunity to trade CFDs on shares, Forex, indices and commodities, as well as exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and shares through an investment account. CFDs use leverage, so losses can build quickly.
Anthropic IPO at a Glance
Here are the key facts in one place. Each figure links back to a named source later in the article.

Is Anthropic Public?
Not yet. Anthropic confidentially submitted a draft Form S-1 to the SEC on 1 June 2026, as CNBC reported. The first Anthropic IPO filing was confidential, so the SEC can review it in private.
A draft filing does not lock the company into a date. The public prospectus must reach investors at least 15 days before the roadshow begins.
So, is Anthropic publicly traded? The answer stays ‘not yet’ until the first trade on an exchange. Until then, there is not an official Anthropic share price.
Where to Find the Anthropic S-1 Filing
Any new Anthropic SEC filing will appear on the SEC’s EDGAR database. The Motley Fool noted on 24 September that a public filing is one of the next steps.
The Anthropic prospectus will be the first document with audited numbers. It is expected to cover the following points.
- Audited revenue and profit figures.
- The number of shares and the price range.
- The lock-up terms for insiders and early investors.
- The rights attached to each share class.
Anthropic Ticker Symbol and Exchange
Anthropic has not announced a ticker. Some aggregators, such as Investing.com, already show ‘ANTP’. Until the company confirms it, any Anthropic IPO ticker you see is unofficial.
Media reports name Nasdaq as the likely venue. An Anthropic Nasdaq listing would put it on the same exchange as SpaceX, which listed there in June.
Anthropic IPO Date: The Story So Far
The date has moved more than once. The table shows how the plan has shifted over the past year.
Anthropic IPO Timeline
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2 Dec 2025 | The Financial Times reported that Anthropic had hired law firm Wilson Sonsini to prepare for a possible IPO. |
| Feb 2026 | Anthropic closed a Series G round of $30 billion at a $380 billion valuation. |
| May 2026 | Anthropic closed a Series H round of $65 billion at a $965 billion post-money valuation. |
| 1 Jun 2026 | Anthropic confidentially submitted a draft S-1 to the SEC. |
| 12 Jun 2026 | SpaceX listed on Nasdaq in a record IPO. |
| 16 Sep 2026 | The US Federal Reserve raised its target rate range to 3.75% to 4.00%. |
| 18 Sep 2026 | The Wall Street Journal reported a November IPO target. |
| 24 Sep 2026 | Reuters reported a plan to give the co-founders voting control. |
The latest Anthropic IPO news arrived on 24 September, when Reuters covered the proposed voting structure. You will find more detail in the ownership section below.
Why Did the Date Move From October to November?
Earlier reports pointed to an Anthropic IPO October debut. A Yahoo Finance round-up cited Reuters on a mid-October target.
On 18 September, the WSJ reported a November plan. The later date may give Anthropic time to share its third-quarter results before meeting investors. The report added that the date was chosen before the recent debate about the pace of AI development.
Reuters has also reported that the listing could move to after the US midterm elections on 3 November. Anthropic IPO timing therefore remains open. Treat any Anthropic IPO November date you see online with caution until the company confirms it.
What Usually Happens Next
- Anthropic makes its S-1 public on EDGAR.
- Management starts the Anthropic IPO roadshow with large investors.
- The banks set a price range and later a final offer price.
- Shares start trading on the exchange.
- Lock-up periods for insiders end in stages after the listing.
Anthropic IPO Valuation and Price
Valuation is the headline number. The Anthropic valuation 2026 figures have climbed quickly, as the table below shows.
Funding Rounds and Implied Valuations
| Stage | Date | Amount raised | Valuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series G | Feb 2026 | $30 billion | $380 billion |
| Anthropic Series H | May 2026 | $65 billion | $965 billion |
| Secondary trades (Forge Global) | Apr 2026 | Not applicable | About $1 trillion implied |
| IPO target (reported) | Nov 2026 | Up to $100 billion | About $2 trillion |
| Upper range (reported) | Nov 2026 | Not disclosed | Up to $2.3 trillion |
Sources: company announcements and media reports. IPO figures are targets and may change. Past valuations are not a reliable indicator of future results.
Each Anthropic funding round in 2026 priced the company higher. The step from Series G to Series H was roughly 2.5 times in about three months.
Anthropic IPO Price Per Share
The Anthropic IPO price per share is not set yet. The banks usually publish a price range in an updated S-1 shortly before the roadshow.
The Anthropic IPO date and price both depend on the public filing and on investor demand.
Some secondary market prices exist. They are hard to compare. Nasdaq Private Market showed about $80.33 per share on 10 September. Better Markets showed about $3,658 per share, which implies a valuation near $1.6 trillion.
Comparing those two numbers is a bit like comparing a pint with a thimble and calling both ‘a drink’. The gap most likely reflects different share classes or fund structures.
The S-1 should reveal the real share count. Until then, the implied company valuation is the more useful figure.
Valuation Multiples in Plain English
A multiple compares the value of a company with its sales. The table uses reported figures and simple maths. It is an illustration, and the inputs are unaudited.
| Valuation | Vs about $60bn estimated 2026 revenue | Vs $65bn run-rate (July) | Vs $100bn run-rate (September) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $965 billion | About 16x | About 15x | About 10x |
| $1.6 trillion | About 27x | About 25x | About 16x |
| $2.0 trillion | About 33x | About 31x | About 20x |
| $2.3 trillion | About 38x | About 35x | About 23x |
The 2026 revenue estimate comes from analyst models. It is not a company forecast.
Some commentators compare these multiples with recent tech listings such as SpaceX. Different businesses carry different risks, so such comparisons have clear limits.
Anthropic IPO Price Prediction: What the Data Shows
An Anthropic stock forecast made before the S-1 would rely on unaudited data. For that reason, we do not publish a price target or scenario probabilities.
Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
Prediction markets offer one view of sentiment. They are betting markets, and their prices can move sharply within hours.
| Market | Question | Reported probability |
|---|---|---|
| Polymarket | IPO before 31 December 2026 | 79% |
| Polymarket | First-day close above $2 trillion | 66% |
| Kalshi | IPO before 1 December 2026 | About 50% |
| Kalshi | Anthropic lists before OpenAI | 94% |
Source: Polymarket and Kalshi data as reported in September 2026. These odds are third-party market prices. They are not our forecasts, and they are not a reliable indicator of future results.
The Anthropic IPO Polymarket contracts are thinly traded. One valuation market had about $0.9 million in volume, so small trades can shift the odds. A first-day Anthropic market cap above $2 trillion is only one of several outcomes these markets price.
Anthropic Revenue 2026 and Profit
Revenue growth sits at the heart of the story. Reported figures show very fast growth. Most of them remain unaudited until the S-1 is public.
| Period | Revenue | Source (reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Q2 2025 | $787 million | Bloomberg |
| Q1 2026 | About $4.73 billion | Bloomberg and the WSJ |
| Q2 2026 | More than $11.5 billion (preliminary) | Bloomberg |
| Q3 2026 | Not yet reported | The quarter ends on 30 September |
Empower reported quarter-on-quarter revenue growth of 142% in Q2 2026.
Anthropic Run-Rate Revenue Explained
Run-rate takes recent monthly revenue and multiplies it by 12. It shows the current pace of sales. In a fast-growing business, it can run well ahead of full-year revenue.
| Date | Reported run-rate |
|---|---|
| End of 2025 | About $9 billion |
| Mid-May 2026 | About $47 billion |
| End of July 2026 | About $65 billion |
| September 2026 | Above $100 billion |
Sources: Bloomberg and the company’s Series H announcement. The September figure comes from the New York Times via PYMNTS.
Reported revenue for 2025 was about $4.5 billion, while the year-end run-rate was about $9 billion. That gap is normal for fast growth. It also shows why $100 billion of run-rate is a different measure from $100 billion of annual sales.
Anthropic Profit: Adjusted Figures and GAAP
Anthropic says it was profitable on an adjusted basis in Q2 2026 and expects the same in Q3, according to The Motley Fool.
The reported adjusted Anthropic operating profit for Q2 was about $559 million, based on a forecast shared with investors. That measure reportedly excludes stock-based compensation.
The same Motley Fool article suggests treating Anthropic as unprofitable under GAAP until the S-1 shows otherwise. Anthropic GAAP profit figures have not been published.
The Gross Margin Debate
Gross margin estimates vary widely. The main reason is that each source counts costs differently.
| Source | Estimate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Financial Times | Above 80% | Before partner revenue share and training costs |
| SemiAnalysis | Mid-60s per cent | A blend across products |
| PitchBook, via Morningstar | About 44% | All compute costs against revenue |
| The Information | About 40% | An earlier estimate for 2025 |
The S-1 should settle the debate. It matters because a lower margin would usually support a lower valuation.
Who Owns Anthropic?
Anthropic has two large strategic backers. Its founders also plan special voting rights.
| Holder | Reported or estimated stake | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon | About 15% to 21% (analyst estimates) | The Amazon Anthropic stake is held through notes and preferred shares, according to filings. |
| Alphabet | About 10% to 15% (analyst estimates) | The Google Anthropic stake makes up most of Alphabet’s private equity holdings, according to reports. |
| Seven co-founders | About 2% each (reported) | A proposed 50.1% of combined voting power. |
| Long-Term Benefit Trust | Nil economic stake | Elects a majority of the board (reported). |
Anthropic Founders Voting Control
On 24 September, Reuters reported that Anthropic is asking shareholders to approve a new corporate structure. It would give Dario Amodei and his six co-founders a combined 50.1% of voting power.
The plan follows a model used by Palantir. It would apply while at least three of the seven co-founders keep a minimum number of shares.
Board elections are a significant exception, according to the report. Employees may also receive a special class of stock with tie-breaker votes on some issues. These Anthropic share classes still need shareholder approval.
Much of this week’s Dario Amodei IPO coverage focuses on this voting plan. For outside shareholders, it would mean limited influence over most decisions. Investors who focus on governance often study such structures closely.
Anthropic Public Benefit Corporation IPO
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation (PBC). A PBC board can weigh its stated mission alongside returns to shareholders.
Veeva Systems became a PBC after it had already listed. A PBC listing at Anthropic’s size would be unusual, so investors have few direct comparisons.
Anthropic Employee Shares and Tender Offers
Staff have already had chances to sell. In an Anthropic tender offer run between February and April 2026, employees could sell at a valuation of about $350 billion, reports say.
Reports also say employees sold fewer shares than buyers had hoped to acquire.
Anthropic IPO Lockup Period
A lock-up stops insiders from selling for a set time after listing. The usual length is 180 days.
Reports cited by The Motley Fool suggest Anthropic may use a longer lock-up with staged sales. The public S-1 should confirm the terms.
A Forbes contributor argued that lock-up expiry dates can matter because they add share supply. That is one commentator’s view. Past patterns around lock-ups are not a reliable indicator of future results.
Can I Buy Anthropic Stock? How IPO Access Usually Works
This section explains the general routes to IPO shares. It is general information about how markets work, and it does not consider your personal situation.
Before the IPO: Anthropic Pre-IPO Deals and the Anthropic Secondary Market
Some Anthropic private shares change hands on private platforms before listing. These deals are usually open only to accredited or professional investors.
Anthropic has warned that share sales made without board approval may be void, reports say. It named several secondary platforms in that warning.
Unlisted shares can be very hard to sell, and you could lose all the money you invest. In many countries, rules restrict how such shares can be marketed to retail investors.
Forbes reported strong retail demand for pre-IPO funds in September. Such funds can charge high fees. Their prices can also move away from the value of what they hold.
At the IPO: How Allocations Work
Most IPO shares usually go to institutions. Some brokers offer retail allocations, though access tends to be limited. The banks and the company set the offer price.
Interest is high. A Boring Money survey found that 48% of UK investors would be keen to buy into the IPO, against 28% for OpenAI, Yahoo Finance reported.
Nvidia has reportedly considered an anchor order of up to $10 billion. Heavy demand can push early prices up. It can also make them swing sharply in both directions.
After the Listing: Shares or CFDs
After a company lists, investors can usually buy its shares through a broker. Availability of any new listing depends on each broker’s product range. We cannot confirm today whether or when Anthropic shares would be available on our platforms.
The table below compares real shares with share CFDs. Fractional investing is available on selected instruments.
| Feature | Real shares | Share CFDs |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership | You own the shares. | You do not own the shares. |
| Voting rights | Usually yes, depending on the share class. | None. |
| Leverage | Not used on a standard investment account. | Used, which magnifies both gains and losses. |
| Maximum loss | The amount you invested. | Losses can exceed your margin. Where negative balance protection does not apply, losses can exceed your deposit. |
| Going short | Not possible on a standard investment account. | Possible, with added risk. |
| Costs | Commission and any currency conversion fees. | Spread and overnight financing. Commission may also apply. |
Check current costs on our fees and charges page.
CFDs are complex instruments. They allow you to speculate on rising or falling prices. Losses can build quickly because of leverage.
If you want to see how orders work first, a demo account lets you practise with virtual funds. Demo results do not reflect real trading, where emotions and slippage play a part.
Stop-loss orders can help you manage risk. They do not guarantee an exit at your chosen price in fast markets. Our risk management guide explains how they work.
Claude Stock: Is There One?
There is not a separate Claude AI stock. Claude is Anthropic’s family of AI models. Any listing would be of Anthropic shares.
Listed Companies With Links to Anthropic
Some listed companies hold stakes in Anthropic or supply it with computing power. Their share prices depend on many other factors, so any link to Anthropic is partial.
| Company | Link to Anthropic | Scale of the link (reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon | Investor and cloud partner | Stake estimated at 15% to 21% |
| Alphabet | Investor and cloud partner | Stake estimated at 10% to 15% |
| Nvidia | Investor and chip supplier | Reported talks on an IPO anchor order of up to $10 billion |
| Microsoft | Investor and cloud partner | Up to $5 billion invested, reported in 2025 |
An Anthropic ETF does not exist today because the company is private. After a listing, index funds could add the shares if they meet index rules. An ETF with Anthropic exposure would therefore depend on index decisions after listing.
For background on one of the key AI chip suppliers, see our Nvidia share price forecast article. Any company with partial Anthropic exposure also carries its own business risks.
Anthropic IPO Risks and Reported Strengths
Every IPO has two sides. The table places the main reported strengths next to the main reported risks.
| Reported strengths | Reported risks |
|---|---|
| Run-rate revenue rose from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 to above $100 billion in September 2026, according to reports. | Most financial figures stay unaudited until the S-1 is public. |
| Anthropic reported an adjusted operating profit for Q2 2026. | The adjusted measure excludes stock-based compensation. |
| The Ramp AI Index showed 43.8% of US businesses paying for Anthropic in August. | Ramp also found that effective token prices fell 41% from their March peak. |
| Amazon and Alphabet are large strategic backers. | Compute commitments reach up to $517 billion over about ten years, according to The Information. |
| Anthropic won a first-instance ruling against the Pentagon’s supply chain risk label in August. | The case continues on appeal. |
| A small free float could make shares scarce at first. | A small float can also make the price swing sharply. |
Legal and Regulatory Risks
- Music publishers have sued Anthropic over song lyrics, with one claim above $3 billion.
- The Pentagon dispute over a supply chain risk label is still before appeal courts.
- From August 2026, the EU AI Office can fine providers of general-purpose AI models that break the rules.
- Export controls led Anthropic to suspend access to two Claude models between 12 June and 1 July 2026.
Market Risks
Interest rates matter for any large IPO. On 16 September, the Fed raised rates to 3.75% to 4.00%, its first increase since July 2023.
The next Fed meeting is on 27 and 28 October, close to the expected roadshow. You can follow key dates in our economic calendar.
Competition for investor money also matters. Bloomberg reported that some companies, such as Holtec Nuclear, postponed IPOs because of market conditions.
The OpenAI Anthropic IPO Race
OpenAI and Anthropic are two of the best-known AI labs. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman told Fortune on 11 September that OpenAI’s IPO will not take place in 2026, PYMNTS reported.
| Point | Anthropic | OpenAI |
|---|---|---|
| IPO timing | Reported for November 2026 | Not in 2026, according to Sam Altman |
| Latest reported valuation | $965 billion (May 2026) | $852 billion, with talks at about $1.2 trillion |
| Corporate form | Public benefit corporation | Public benefit corporation under a non-profit parent |
| Share of US businesses paying (Ramp, August) | 43.8% | 39.8% |
Anthropic IPO vs SpaceX IPO
SpaceX offers the closest recent comparison. It listed on Nasdaq on 12 June 2026.
| Point | SpaceX | Anthropic |
|---|---|---|
| IPO date | 12 June 2026 | Not confirmed, reported for November |
| Money raised | $86.7 billion, per The Motley Fool | Up to $100 billion (target) |
| Valuation at IPO | About $1.77 trillion | About $2 trillion (target) |
| Offer price | $135 per share | Not set |
SpaceX has traded for less than a year, so we do not show its share price history here. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

What Analysts Often Check in an S-1
Market participants usually focus on public information before a large IPO. The list below covers items that analysts often check in a prospectus. It is general information and does not consider your circumstances.
- Gross margin after partner revenue share and training costs.
- Stock-based compensation as a share of revenue.
- The share of revenue sold through cloud partners such as AWS and Google Cloud.
- Compute commitments by year and how easily they can be cancelled.
- The lock-up schedule and the size of each share release.
- The exact voting rights of each share class.
