Calculation Formula

A commission is charged per 1.0 lots of transaction`s value on Zero.MT4 & Zero.MT5 accounts. This is a commission for a single side trade. Commission for a round turn trade (opening and closing) is doubled and is fully charged at the opening of the order. The formula below shows how exactly the commission is calculated:

Commission (in the deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission rate in account`s deposit currency * 2

Where:

Contract size = Volume traded in lots

For Forex currency pairs:

1 lot = 100,000 units of the base currency. Base currency is the currency quoted first in a currency pair (e.g. 1 lot of EURUSD = 100,000 EUR)

For metals:

1 lot = 5000 troy oz.silver (XAGUSD);

1 lot = 100 troy oz. gold (XAUUSD).

Commission rate in account`s deposit currency - a commission specified by Admiral Markets for account`s deposit currency.

To make the calculations more clear let`s consider several exact examples.

Example 1

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: EUR
  • EUR commission rate: 2.6
  • Instrument traded: USDCAD
  • Volume traded: 1 lot

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission rate in account`s deposit currency * 2
  • Commission (in EUR) = 1 Lot * 2.6 EUR * 2 = 5.2 EUR

Example 2

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: CHF
  • CHF commission rate: 3.0
  • Instrument traded: EURCAD
  • Volume traded: 1 lot

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission rate in account`s deposit currency * 2
  • Commission (in CHF) = 1 Lot * 3.0 CHF * 2 = 6.0 CHF

Example 3

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: GBP
  • GBP commission rate: 2.0
  • Instrument traded: XAUUSD
  • Volume traded: 1 lot

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission rate in account`s deposit currency * 2
  • Commission (in GBP) = 1 Lot * 2.0 GBP * 2 = 4.0 GBP

Commissions for Australian Share CFDs on Trade.MT5 accounts

Calculation guidelines

Commission charged for the AU share CFDs (AUD-denominated) is 0.15 % of the transaction`s notional value, with the minimum commission being 8 AUD per transaction.

Commission is charged in full amount (i.e. as a summary commission for opening and closing transactions) upon opening a position.

Therefore, the commission value for the AU CFDs is calculated as Transaction`s Notional Value * 0.15% * Exchange Rate * 2,

whereas:

  • Transaction`s Notional Value is calculated as CFD Open Price * Contract Size (in Lots);
  • 0.15% is a multiplier representing the commission rate;
  • Exchange Rate is a multiplier representing the conversion rate from the commission currency (AUD) to your account`s currency;
  • 2 is a doubling multiplier as the commission is charged for both trade sides in a single transaction upon opening a position.

If the resulting commission value calculated using the above formula is less than the minimum commission value for both sides (i.e. 8 AUD * 2 sides = 16 AUD), then the minimum commission charge is applied.

The following examples show how you can calculate the commission for your positions on #CBA.AU (Commonwealth Bank of Australia CFD) and #NAB.AU (National Australia Bank Ltd CFD).

Important Note:

CFDs (Contracts for Difference) are derivative contracts that allow traders to take advantage of the price fluctuations of the underlying asset without acquisition of the ownership rights for that asset. Learn more about the benefits of our share CFD offering.

Example 1: Opening a Position on #CBA.AU and Paying a Commission

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: USD
  • Instrument: #CBA.AU
  • Lot size: 1 share CFD
  • Contract size: 250 lots
  • Open price #CBA.AU: 89.50
  • AUDUSD rate in MetaTrader 5: 0.77106

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = CFD Open Price (in AUD) * Contract size (in Lots) * Commission Rate (in %) * Rate of commission currency (AUD) to account`s deposit currency (USD) * 2 Trade Sides
  • Commission (in USD) = 89.50 AUD per share CFD * 250 lots * 0.15 / 100 * 0.77106 * 2 = 51.75 USD

Since the mathematical value of the commission is higher than the minimum commission per two sides (8 AUD * 2 = 16 AUD or 12.33 USD in account`s currency), a commission charge of 51.75 USD is applied to this position.

Example 2: Opening a Position on #NAB.AU and Paying a Minimum Commission

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: USD
  • Instrument: #NAB.AU
  • Lot size: 1 share CFD
  • Contract size: 100 lots
  • Open price #NAB.AU: 27.20
  • AUDUSD rate in MetaTrader 5: 0.77106

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = CFD Open Price (in AUD) * Contract size (in Lots) * Commission Rate (in %) * Rate of commission currency (AUD) to account`s deposit currency (USD) * 2 Trade Sides
  • Commission (in USD) = 27.20 AUD per share CFD * 100 lots * 0.15 / 100 * 0.77106 * 2 = 6.29 USD

Since the mathematical value of the commission is lower than the minimum commission per two sides (8 AUD * 2 = 16 AUD or 12.33 USD in account`s currency), a minimum commission charge of 16 AUD in account`s currency is applied to this position.

Commission Rates for Japanese Share CFDs on Trade.MT5 Accounts

Calculation Guidelines

The commission charged for JP share CFDs is 0.15% of the transaction`s notional value, with the minimum commission being 1250.0 JPY per transaction.

Commission is charged per side of the trade (i.e. separately for opening and closing transactions). Therefore, the round turn commission value for JP CFDs is calculated as: the Transaction`s Notional Value * 0.15% * Exchange Rate * 2 trade sides,

whereas:

  • the transaction`s Notional Value is calculated as: CFD Open Price * Contract Size (in Lots);
  • 0.15% is a multiplier representing the commission rate;
  • Exchange Rate is a multiplier representing the conversion rate from the commission currency (JPY) to your account`s currency;
  • 2 is a doubling multiplier, as the commission is charged for both sides of the trade. If the resulting commission value, calculated using the above formula, is less than the minimum commission value, then the minimum commission charge is applied.

The following examples show how you can calculate the commission levels for opening a long and short positions on #7203.JP (Toyota Motor Corp CFD) and #9984.JP (SoftBank Group Corp CFD).

Important Note:

Example 1: Opening a Long Position on #7203.JP and Paying Commission

Initial Values

  • Account`s deposit currency: USD
  • Instrument: #7203.JP
  • Instrument’s quote currency: JPY
  • Lot size: 1 share CFD
  • Contract size: 500 lots
  • Open price #7203.JP: 8125.00
  • JPYUSD rate: 0.0091

Calculations

  • Commission (in the account`s deposit currency) = CFD Open Price (in JPY) * Contract size (in Lots) * Commission Rate (in %) * Rate of commission currency (JPY) to the account`s deposit currency (USD) * 2 trade sides
  • Commission (in USD) = 8125.00 JPY per share CFD * 500 lots * 0.15 / 100 * 0.0091 * 2 = 110.90 USD

Since the mathematical value of the commission is higher than the minimum commission per two sides (1250.0 JPY * 2 = 2500.0 JPY or 22.82 USD in account`s currency), a commission charge of 110.90 USD is applied to this position.

Example 2: Opening a Short Position on #9984.JP and Paying the Minimum Commission

Initial Values

  • Account`s deposit currency: USD
  • Instrument: #9984.JP

  • Commission (in USD) = 9885.00 JPY per share CFD * 50 lots * 0.15 / 100 * 0.0091 * 2 = 13.49 USD

Since the mathematical value of the commission is lower than the minimum commission per two sides (1250.0 JPY * 2 = 2500.0 JPY or 22.82 USD in account`s currency), a minimum commission charge of 2500.0 JPY in account`s currency is applied to this position.

Commissions for trading US Stocks on Invest.MT5 accounts

Formula

A 0.02 USD (or the equivalent in another currency) per share per side (i.e. separately for opening and closing positions) commission is charged on Invest.MT5 accounts. For US stocks, 1 lot equals 1 stock. Therefore, the commission for 100 lots equals USD 0.02 * 100 stocks = 2 USD. The minimum commission is 1 USD. To make the calculations more clear, let`s consider several examples.

Example 1: Buying a US Stock

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: USD
  • Instrument: AAPL
  • Instrument`s quote currency: USD
  • Volume trade: 150 lots
  • Order type: Buy
  • Open price AAPL: 156.92

Calculations

  • Commission (in the account’s deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission per 1 stock * Rate of USD to the account’s deposit currency (USD)
  • Commission (in USD) = (150 Lots * 1 Apple Stock) * 0.02 USD * 1 = 3.00 USD

Example 2: Selling a US Stock

Initial values

  • Account’s deposit currency: USD
  • Instrument: AAPL
  • Instrument`s quote currency: USD
  • Volume trade: 25 lots
  • Order type: Sell
  • Open price AAPL: 165.45

Calculations

  • Commission (in the account’s deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission per 1 stock * Rate of USD to the account’s deposit currency (USD)
  • Commission (in USD) = (25 Lots * 1 Apple Stock) * 0.02 USD * 1 = 0.50 USD

Since the mathematical value of the commission is lower than the minimum commission per side (i.e. 1 USD ), a minimum commission charge of 1 USD is applied to this transaction.

Example 3: Buying a US Stocks

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: EUR
  • Instrument: GOOG
  • Instrument`s quote currency: USD
  • Volume trade: 500 lots
  • Order type: Buy
  • Open price GOOG: 1580.60
  • Currency EURUSD rate in MetaTrader 5: 1.18235

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = Contract size * Commission per 1 stock * Rate of USD to account`s deposit currency (EUR)
  • Commission (in EUR) = (500 Lots * 1 Google Stock) * 0.02 USD * (1/1.18235) = 8.46 EUR

Commission for Trading EU Stocks on Invest.MT5 accounts

Calculation guidelines

Commission charged for an EU share (for example: France and Germany) is 0.10% of the transaction`s notional value per side (i.e. separately for buying and selling). The minimum commission for EUR-denominated share is 1 EUR.

Therefore, the commission value of the EU Stocks is calculated as the Transaction`s Notional Value (Amount of Stocks * Stock price) * 0.10% * Exchange Rate,

Whereas:

  • Transaction`s Notional Value is calculated as Order Open Price * Contract Size (in Lots);
  • 0.10% is a multiplier representing the commission rate;
  • The Exchange Rate is a multiplier representing the conversion rate from the commission currency (EUR) to your account’s currency;

If the resulting commission value, calculated using the above formula, is less than the minimum commission value(i.e. 1 EUR), then the minimum commission charge is applied.

Example 1: Buying an EU Stocks

  • Account`s deposit currency: EUR
  • Instrument: FP
  • Instrument`s quote currency: EUR
  • Volume trade: 50 lots
  • Order type: Buy
  • Open price FP: 36.300

Calculations

  • Commission (in account`s deposit currency) = Open Price (in EUR) * Contract size (in Lots) * Commission Rate (in %)
  • Commission (in EUR) = 36.300 EUR * (50 Lots * 1 Total SE Stock) * 0.10% = 1.82 EUR

Example 2: Selling an EU Stock

Initial values

  • Account`s deposit currency: EUR
  • Instrument: FP
