Walmart Fiscal Q4 2025 Performance
Here are some of the key highlights from the fiscal fourth quarter 2025 earnings report from Walmart:
- Earnings per share: 66 cents vs 64 cents expected
- Revenue: $180.55 billion vs $180.01 billion expected
- Net income down to $5.25 billion vs $5.49 billion prior year
- Walmart International net sales growth up 5.7%
- Walmart US comparable sales growth up 4.6% excluding fuel
- E-commerce sales up 20% compared to the prior year
On the face of it, Walmart beat analyst expectations on most financial performance metrics. Both earnings and revenue came in higher than expected with growth from the prior year seen in most of its divisions. The results were boosted by a holiday quarter which saw revenue rise 4% and growth in home deliveries and upper-income shoppers.
However, the stock price fell more than 6% on the news, as Walmart's outlook disappointed investors. In its earnings call, it said that for the fiscal year, it expects net sales to grow 3% to 4% with full-year earnings per share guidance of $2.50 to $2.60. This was lower than the $2.76 earnings per share analysts were expecting.
Around two-thirds of Walmart sells is from the United States. However, its chief financial officer said it will not be immune to tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico if they go ahead. The guidance provided did not take any tariff impact into account.
The uncertain geopolitical landscape is just one reason some analysts are moving to a hold rating on the stock, as highlighted below.
