How to Download MetaTrader 4 on PC
In order to download MetaTrader 4 for PC, you must be running at least Windows 7. In the following sections, we will take you through the four steps in order to get MT4 for Windows.
1. Download the MT4 for PC Installer
Head over to the MetaTrader 4 download for Windows page on the Admiral Markets website and click the blue “Download Now” button.
You will be prompted to enter your full name, email address and telephone number before being able to download the MetaTrader 4 for Windows installer.
Alternatively, if you are already registered with Admiral Markets, sign in to the Dashboard, select ‘Trading Platforms’ on the left hand side of your dashboard and click on ‘MetaTrader 4 PC’ to start your MT4 download for PC.
2. Read and Agree to the Licensing Agreement
Once you have successfully downloaded the MetaTrader 4 Windows installation file, open it.
You will be presented with a license agreement from MetaQuotes Software Corp. which you should read carefully before clicking ‘Next’ to agree and proceed to installation.
3. Install MetaTrader 4 for Windows
After clicking ‘Next’ the installation should begin automatically, now you just need to wait whilst MetaTrader 4 for PC installs on your machine! This should not take long, but depends on your computer.
4. Downloaded!
Once the installation is completed you will need to click the ‘Finish’ button and MetaTrader 4 should open automatically. If it does not, then you can open MT4 by finding its icon on your computer desktop.

The first time that MetaTrader 4 opens, a dialogue box will be displayed prompting you to select a trading server in order to log in to an account.

How to Place a Trade on MT4 PC
Once you have opened MetaTrader 4 for Windows and logged into your account, you can now start exploring the different features of MT4, viewing live price charts and placing trades.
In order to open a price chart and place a trade, you will need to select the instrument you wish to trade from the ‘Market Watch’ window on the left of the screen. If Market Watch is not displayed, press Control + M to open it.
Once you have identified your desired instrument, right click it and select ‘Chart Window’ to open a price chart.
To open a position, right click anywhere on the chart, select ‘Trading’ and click ‘New Order’ and you will be presented with the screen shown below. Here, you can choose the type of order, enter the volume of the trade you wish to make and set a stop loss and take profit.
