The Social Life of a Day Trader

Dear traders,

You may be wondering what the social life of a trader is like. The first thing you need to know about trading Forex is that this is an activity that takes place five days a week. It starts Monday at 0:00 and ends Friday at 23:59. During this time, you are almost 100% connected to the market. But when it's your off time, you need to relax.

When I arrive at the office, it's usually around 8:00. At that point, I need to sit down and focus. As we trade from an office or from home, most of us trade in our casual clothes. The trading day progresses, and London traders prepare for lunch. If the market settles down, it's a good time to head to the gym – as we may be done for the day.

First Break

Around the time, I also use the break, but not for lunch. I use this time to jog and do cardio exercises. There are many sports you can practise that can be very healthy and beneficial for you. I practise Muay Thai boxing and work out at the gym as it helps release the accumulated stress. At the same time, it lowers your sugar levels and normalises your blood pressure.

As soon as I finish my exercise, I take a shower and drink cold-pressed fruit juice. I'm not alone during this time – I'm with my friends or my trainer.

After Work Hours

Some say that traders are solitary beings. When I step out of the office, I try to switch off mentally. This is not always easy, especially after working for eleven hours straight.

If it's a workday, I honestly don't have time for parties. I usually go out for a drink or walk my dog.

The movies often show that traders and business people, in general, spend their nights away drinking alcohol in a circle of friends. But that's Hollywood for you. In reality, it would be challenging to stay late every night and efficiently trade the market the following morning.

Personally, I like watching some TV series or movies before I fall asleep. If this sounds too normal, guess what? That's because it is – for the most part.

There are always good and bad days. But life is about a billion little moments that add up to all the things around you. As Buddhists teach, enjoy being in the now. For traders, weekends can be busy. Traders do love parties – as long as they don't interfere with trading. On weekends, I go to exclusive nightclubs to have some quality time with my friends. Dancing, joking, and laughing is all I need to recharge my batteries. Sometimes, it's better not to get too bogged down by the uncertainty of your future.

There is an old saying, "Man plans, and God laughs". Well, you might just as well be on God's side.

What About Dating?

Dating can be different for traders and other people who work the day job. In my opinion, a trader should be elegant, charming, and overall good-looking. Traders have a very attractive quality of being flexible – we are the masters of our schedule.

We have a luxury of spending our time however we see fit. For example, working on self-improvement. If you are a successful trader and you work on both your account and your looks, you shouldn't have any problems with dating.

Other Social Meetings

Traders are humans, after all. And that means they are social beings. Thankfully, the Forex industry offers many opportunities for healthy communication. For example, take Forex expos. This is a place where you can meet up with your friends, colleagues, and co-workers… and people from other industries as well. After the show ends, we enjoy a well-deserved party night.

Final Thoughts

Trading is a fascinating job, and with the right discipline, you can succeed. What do I mean by that? Traders' social life should be a perfect balance of culture, luxury, and discipline. Trading can change your life and give you the freedom everyone is dreaming about.

Don't forget to take care of yourself!

Cheers and safe trading,
